We’re living in unprecedented times, with the Coronavirus crisis causing uncertainty for business owners and employees alike. Our offices may be temporarily closed, but we are still here to provide advice and support to our clients where possible, answering the questions you need to know.

Q: I already receive small business rate relief – can I get any other support?

A:

Good news small business owners – just because you already pay little or no business rates, it doesn’t mean there is no other support out there.

The Government will provide additional Small Business Grant Scheme funding for local authorities to support those who receive small business rate relief, rural rate relief or tapered relief. This funding will provide a one-off grant of £10,000 to help eligible firms meet their ongoing business costs.

This scheme is available to England-based businesses which occupy a property and as of March 11, are receiving small business rate relief or rural rate relief.

Depending on local authority, you may be contacted to receive this relief, or you may be required to apply. Any enquiries regarding this should be directed to your local authority.
